What’s the buzz on the Silver Award? Come join us and get the inside scoop! This hands-on workshop is designed for girls or troops who have started a Journey and would like information on how to plan their project. We will share ideas and techniques. Success stories and suggestions will be available, as well. This workshop will give you all the information that you will need to complete your Silver Award! Troop advisors are strongly encouraged to join their girls at this workshop. Please bring the Silver Award workbook and something to write with.

Babysitting Dutchess 06-01-2013

American Red Cross Babysitter Training

Cost $50

Who: Girls ages 11 – 15

Where: Poughkeepsie Girl Scout office  3 Neptune Rd, Poughkeepsie

Participants will learn how to:

   Supervise children and infants

   Perform basic child care such as diapering, feeding and dressing

   Choose age appropriate games and toys

   Identify safety hazards and prevent injuries

   Care for common injuries such as burns, cuts and bee stings

   Find and interview for babysitting jobs

Participants receive:

Babysitter’s Training Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide, CD Rom that includes tools such as printable activity booklet with games, songs, recipes, and a resume template

Space is limited to 20.

Cape Cod Environmental 6-30-13 to 07-05-13 (Cdt, Snr)

While enjoying the salty air and cool ocean breezes, you will have the opportunity to sea-kayak along Cape Cod’s shore and discover life in the salt marshes with environmental and wildlife specialists, ride over and walk on giant sand dunes and find out all about Cape Cod. Cost includes food, lodging, transportation and all activities. Payment plans available with $200 non-refundable deposit.

Program:

  • Kayaking in Cape Cod Bay,
  • Critter cruise out of Provincetown
  • Sand dune tour – ride in a jeep and take a walk
  • Nature and marsh walk
  • Local sightseeing
  • Explore lighthouses
  • Girls food shop, prepare meals and clean up after themselves
