Junior Level & Above

Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is a USA Archery program designed to teach archery to people ages 8 to 20. The program is taught by certified instructors and coaches. Archers begin by learning range safety and proper shooting technique in an environment that fosters focus self-confidence and team-building skills. JOAD is designed to monitor and enhance each archer’s growth and development in this great sport; the introductory classes naturally progress from beginner skills to advanced techniques. 

Beginners earn their first pins. Intermediate JOAD archers will earn pins 4 and above.

Learn basic paddling techniques, how to get in and out of a canoe, and how to properly put on a personal flotation device. You’ll canoe in groups of two or three per boat, and play games on the water or look for local wildlife. Volunteer* supervision required.

*Please Note: Volunteers must be at least 18 year old, and a registered adult member of Girl Scouts with a current, eligible Criminal Background Check in order to attend this event. For more information on arranging proper volunteer supervision of girls- please review Volunteer Essentials Chapter 4: "Safety Wise”

Volunteer Training

This course is offered in two parts: an online program and a hands-on skills session with an instructor. The online portion must be completed prior to the in-person session, and both portions must be completed for certification. Certification is valid for two years. Course fee includes take-home resource book, keychain CPR mask and certification card.
