Trip and Camp Readiness - Girls Sleep In/Cook In. (Required for the volunteer who will assist the troop with camping or overnight trips away from the regular meeting place) This online course increases your skills in preparing the girls for trips and overnight experiences. Topics include: safety, packing/dressing for the weather, meal planning, food safety, outdoor education activities, going green and using resources wisely. (Cost FREE)
Outdoor 1 - Girls Sleep In/Cook Out. (Required for the volunteer who will assist the troop with camping when the girls will experience campfires and/or outdoor cooking) This is a face-to-face class with skill demonstrations and hands-on participation. It covers fire building, cooking, and Leave No Trace principles. You must take Trip and Camp Readiness before taking this course. (Cost $10)
Outdoor 2 - Girls Sleep Out/Cook Out. (Required for the volunteer who will assist the troop with camping when girls sleep in platform cabins/tents, Adirondacks, or A-frames or pitch their own tents). This online course covers: safety & night-time readiness, personal hygiene, using pumps/wells, facility care, packing lists for personal/troop equipment, knots & lashing, emergency procedures, personal hygiene, and food storage. You must take Outdoor 1 – Girls Sleep In/Cook Out before taking this course. (Cost FREE)
Outdoor Enrichment. Other learning opportunities for the true out-of-doors enthusiast. “Enrich” your understanding of camping and nature activities.
