This course covers the skills required to prepare your girls to cook in the out-of-doors. Including charcoal fires, stoves, lanterns and various types of cooking. Both level 2 and 3 are needed to meet the requirements necessary to cook out and sleep in tents.

Required of an adult to take a group on the following types of events; indoor overnight experiences where girls sleep in cabins, established campgrounds with platform tents, or indoor slumber parties where food is provided or the girls cook in a conventional kitchen. No fires involved. No outdoor cooking. No pitching tents.

Required to take troop/group backpacking.

This is a two-part course. Outdoor Education Levels 1, 2 & 3 are prerequisites.

Backpacking Part One will be held at the Long Beach Service Center on June 5, 2013. Please register for a Part One and Part Two.

Try out your new outdoor skills by camping with your troop with the aid of an older girl troop. They will be on site to help you and your girls hone your camping skills. The Older Girl troop will provide skills lessons and camp program.

Once you have completed Outdoor Education Level 2 you will be ready to prepare your girls to cook out of doors using a variety of methods as well as making and using campfires. Once you have completed Level 3 you will be ready to take your girls camping in tents.

Overnight Outdoor Education covers Levels 1, 2, and 3. Once you have completed all three levels, you are prepared to take your girls indoor and/or outdoor camping with tents and outdoor cooking.
