Resident Camp Programs Session 1 (June 8 - 13)

Resident Camp is the place for girls to spend time with other girls their age, having fun and meeting new friends! Girls can spend time checking out their surroundings and enjoying activities in a safe outdoor environment.

It takes place at Camps Tallchief and Swannie which are located just west of Tulsa. Camp sessions vary in length from one night to fifteen nights and feature activities based on interests. This means that regardless of what your camper’s interests are, Girl Scout camp has a session designed to spark her imagination while developing her leadership skills.

Questions about camp can be directed to the Resident Camp Director, Becky Simpson BSimpson@gseok.org or 1-800-457-4475 ext. 213

Questions about online registration can be directed to ebizhelp@gseok.org or 855-749-2551.

Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) Program

So you think you want to be a camp counselor?  Find out what counselor life is really like! The C.I.T. Program enables girls to better understand the Girl Scout practices and principles related to camping and outdoor education.  The C.I.T. Leadership Project was developed to afford Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts the opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of working with younger girls in an outdoor setting.  Becoming a C.I.T. also enables girls to gain insights into the responsibilities of managing a camp through direct involvement in daily administrative activities.  It offers experience in staff responsibilities, program goals, leadership styles, child development, group dynamics, and conflict resolution.  This experience is expanded upon during the second summer through skill specialization, safety practices, and actually leading activities.  Specialization can be in the areas of boating, aquatics (pool), archery, arts & crafts, and horsemanship. W.I.T. (Wrangler-in-training) has a specific skill and knowledge base that will be instructed.

C.I.T. is a six-week program designed to give you a chance to improve your leadership skills.  You will learn about child development, delivery of camp programs and camp operations, Girl Scout camping philosophy, and outdoor skills.  Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts are asked to attend a total of six weeks of training over two-three years with the intent of working at least one full summer at camp after completion.

Along the way there will be lots of camp memories, laughs, beautiful campfires, and life-long friendships.

CITs will attend Sessions 5, 6 and 7 and go home in between. Dates are:
June 8, 2014 2:00 p.m. – June 13, 2014 2:00 p.m.
